Foot Reflexology Training

At Petal Root School, we offer two levels of Foot Reflexology training: the Beginner Reflexology Course and the Advanced Reflexology Course.
Students have the flexibility to choose their path. You may take these courses as part of the certificate program if you are working toward becoming a professional reflexologist, or you may simply take them for personal interest to learn a valuable skill you can use with family and friends. Students who choose not to pursue certification are not required to complete the practicum or final exam.
Both courses are accredited and meet the standards of the Natural Health Practitioners of Canada (NHPC) Association. After successfully completing both the Beginner and Advanced courses and fulfilling the practicum requirements, students have the option to apply to the NHPC Association to become a Registered Reflexologist. Registration provides you with a professional designation and allows many clients to receive coverage for treatments through their extended health care benefits.
Whether your goal is to begin a new professional path in reflexology or simply learn a powerful healing modality to support the well-being of those around you, these courses provide a strong and comprehensive foundation.

1) Beginners Foot Reflexology

Our Beginner Reflexology Course, also known as Grid Style Reflexology, teaches the structured reflexology method most widely practiced throughout North America. This approach primarily uses thumb-walking techniques to deliver a gentle, precise, and therapeutic reflexology treatment designed to support relaxation, improve circulation, and promote overall wellness.
This foundational training provides students with the skills, theoretical knowledge, and hands-on experience needed to confidently perform reflexology treatments. It is ideal for those who wish to treat friends and family, as well as individuals looking to take the first step toward incorporating reflexology into a professional wellness or holistic health practice.
By the End of This Course, You Will Be Able To:
• Perform a complete 60-minute foot reflexology session
• Read and understand reflexology foot maps
• Understand the history and development of reflexology
• Complete client intake forms and perform basic foot observations
• Apply the core principles of reflexology practice
• Understand benefits, contraindications, and client safety considerations
• Follow professional standards of care and hygiene
• Understand the equipment required and the natural flow of a full treatment session

This is a comprehensive two-day, in-person training course that includes a practicum component required for certification.
Following the in-class training, students will complete a practicum consisting of 25 reflexology treatments performed on friends or family members, along with assigned workbook questions. This practicum is designed to help students build confidence, integrate their skills, and gain valuable real-world experience.

​​​​​2) Advanced Foot Reflexology

Prerequisite: Beginners Foot Reflexology/ another approved reflexology course

The Advanced Reflexology Course focuses on teaching Chinese Style Reflexology, a technique known for its deeper, smoother, and more flowing approach to treatment. This style incorporates the use of knuckles, gliding movements, and gentle body rocking to deliver an effective reflexology session while allowing the practitioner to work with greater ease and efficiency.
This advanced method builds upon the foundational skills learned in the Beginner Reflexology Course and introduces more specialized techniques that allow practitioners to work more deeply with reflex points and energy pathways throughout the body.

In this course, you will learn:
• Detailed acupressure points specific to Chinese-style reflexology
• Basic anatomy and physiology relevant to reflexology practice
• Foot anatomy and function
• Common foot conditions and how reflexology can support them
• How to infuse reflexology with Reiki for enhanced energetic balance
• Specific reflex points related to various health conditions
• Steps to starting your reflexology business
• Information about professional associations and how to become registered

This course is available to students who have successfully completed the Beginner Reflexology Course.
The Advanced Course takes place over three days and includes additional homework, a practicum consisting of 35 reflexology treatments, and both a written and practical exam. These components must be completed in order to receive your Advanced Reflexology Certificate.
Upon completion of both the Beginner and Advanced courses and fulfillment of the practicum requirements, students are eligible to apply to a professional reflexology association to become a Registered Reflexologist. Once registered and assigned a professional number, clients are often able to receive coverage through their extended health benefits, and practitioners can be listed in association directories for greater professional exposure and credibility.
This course provides the next step in developing a confident, skilled, and professional reflexology practice.

​3) Hand Reflexology Course

Join us for two full days of hands-on learning as we explore the art and therapeutic benefits of Hand Reflexology. This course is perfect for those who want to treat friends, family members, and themselves, or for wellness practitioners looking to add an additional modality to their existing practice.
Hand reflexology works with specific reflex points on the hands that correspond to organs, glands, and systems throughout the body. Because the hands are easily accessible, this treatment can be a powerful and convenient way to support relaxation, circulation, and overall well-being.
During this course, we will explore both the theory and practical application of hand reflexology while giving students the opportunity to practice and refine their skills with fellow participants.

• How the hand reflexology chart relates to the body
• The structure and anatomy of the hand

Reiki Courses
​
Reiki Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 / Master are each offered as one-day, intensive and transformative trainings that include both theoretical learning and hands-on practice.
These courses are designed to support you at every stage of your Reiki journey—from learning to work with energy for yourself, to expanding your skills and working with others, and eventually stepping into more advanced techniques and mastery.
Our instructors are experienced, compassionate, and deeply committed to mentoring and supporting students as they develop confidence in their practice and connection to Reiki energy. Each level builds upon the previous one, allowing you to deepen your understanding, refine your skills, and expand your ability to work with energy in a meaningful and effective way.
Upon completion of each course, you will receive a certificate for the level you have completed, recognizing your training and progression within Reiki.

1) Reiki Level One

Reiki Level 1 is the beginning of your journey into energy healing, where you learn how to work with Reiki for self-healing and physical well-being. This one-day, immersive training introduces you to the foundational principles of Reiki and provides you with the tools to begin practicing on yourself right away.
This course is ideal for those seeking personal healing, stress reduction, and a deeper connection to themselves, as well as for those who may feel called to continue their Reiki training in the future.

• What Reiki is and how it works
• The benefits and contraindications of Reiki
• The history and origins of Reiki
• The chakra system and its role in energy healing
• The five Reiki principles
• How to perform a complete Reiki self-treatment

In the afternoon, you will receive your Reiki Level 1 Attunement and have the opportunity to practice self-healing Reiki sessions, allowing you to experience the energy firsthand. By the end of the day, you will feel confident working with Reiki energy and will be awarded your Reiki Level 1 Certificate.

2) Reiki Level Two

Prerequisite: reiki level one, from any teacher/ school

Reiki Level 2 is where your practice expands into working with others and deepening your connection to Reiki energy. In this level, you are introduced to the Reiki symbols, which enhance the flow of energy and allow you to work more intentionally with mental and emotional healing, as well as perform distance Reiki sessions.
This is often where students begin to feel more confident sharing Reiki with others, whether with family and friends or within a professional setting. Level 2 supports both your personal growth and your ability to facilitate meaningful healing experiences for others.

In this course, you will learn:
• The journey and role of a Reiki Level 2 practitioner
• The Reiki symbols and how to use them in your sessions
• How to offer Reiki for mental and emotional healing
• How to perform distance Reiki sessions
• How to facilitate group Reiki sessions
• How to work with spirit guides and intuitive guidance
• How to safely offer Reiki to animals, babies, and pregnant women
• How to begin setting up your Reiki practice

In the afternoon, you will receive your Reiki Level 2 Attunement and gain hands-on experience by practicing Reiki on each other, including distance healing techniques. This allows you to integrate what you’ve learned and build confidence in your abilities.
By the end of the day, you will be awarded your Reiki Level 2 Certificate.

Prerequisite: reiki level one and two from any teacher/school

Reiki Level 3, also known as the Master Level, is where your practice deepens into more advanced techniques, expanded energetic awareness, and a stronger connection to intuitive guidance.
At this level, you move beyond foundational Reiki work and begin to refine your ability to work more intentionally with energy, the chakra system, and subtle energetic layers. This training supports both your personal spiritual development and your evolution as a practitioner.
Level 3 is often experienced as a powerful shift, where your confidence, intuition, and connection to Reiki energy continue to strengthen and expand.

In this course, you will learn:
• The Reiki Master Symbol and how to work with it in your sessions
• How to perform psychic surgery techniques for energetic clearing
• How to use visualization and intention to direct and enhance healing
• The four key components of advanced chakra work
• How to deepen your connection with spirit guides and intuitive guidance
• How to incorporate crystals and crystal grids into your Reiki practice

In the afternoon, you will receive your Reiki Level 3 Attunement and have the opportunity to practice the techniques learned throughout the day. This hands-on experience allows you to integrate the material and build confidence in your advanced skills.
By the end of the course, you will be awarded your Reiki Level 3 / Master Certificate.

These courses are great for practitioners as they expand their practice or for students who are wanting to move towards starting their own holistic business. 1) Ayurvedic Indian Head Massage

Rooted in the ancient healing system of Ayurveda, Indian Head Massage has been practiced for thousands of years to calm the nervous system, relieve tension, improve circulation, and support overall well-being. This deeply relaxing therapy focuses on the upper back, shoulders, neck, scalp, and face, helping to release built-up stress while encouraging energetic balance throughout the body. It is also known to support hair and scalp health, promote mental clarity, and encourage a deep state of relaxation.

During this course, you will learn both the theory and practical techniques needed to confidently offer this beautiful treatment.
In this course we will explore:
• The history and therapeutic benefits of Ayurvedic healing practices and Indian Head Massage
• The muscles of the neck and face and how to safely relieve tension in these areas
• The lymphatic system and how facial drainage supports skin health and immunity
• Marma points of the face and their energetic and therapeutic benefits
• Aromatherapy principles, including the use of rosemary essential oil for hair and scalp health
This full-day training begins with the theory and foundations of Ayurvedic Indian Head Massage in the morning. The afternoon will focus on demonstration and hands-on practice, allowing students to develop confidence and skill in performing the treatment and integrating it into their personal or professional wellness practice.
By the end of the course, you will feel confident offering Ayurvedic Indian Head Massage as a deeply relaxing and therapeutic treatment.
